Kamay ni Hesus Shrine in Lucban, Quezon

After we finished our tour around the town of Pitogo, we went to Lucena, ate our lunch and rode a jeepney going to Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon. It was a 30 minutes ride from Lucena central terminal to Lucban. We paid P30.00 each.

Lucban Quezon is popular not only because of its delicious foods and colorful festivals like the Pahiyas festival celebrated every month of May. Lucban, Quezon has become a favorite tourist spot in the Philippines.

Kamay ni Hesus has fast becoming one of the popular pilgrim sites in the Philippines. Since Filipinos are Catholics, many are easily attracted to visit Kamay ni Hesus to pray for healing, hear mass, repent especially during lenten season and while others come to to give thanks to Jesus Christ.

Kamay ni Hesus healing church is considered one of the sacred grounds and pilgrim sites located at Brgy. Tinamnan, Lucban, Quezon. The 5-hectare shrine was constructed on 2002 and founded by Fr. Joey Faller with the collaborated effort of some local and international communities and the people from Quezon.

It has other sites like Dolorosa Grotto, healing Church, Noah's Ark, Sea of Galilee, Holy Family park and the Pastoral Center.

It was my first time to visit Kamay ni Hesus Shrine last April 17, 2016. I (with madam Flor) climbed the 305 steps grotto to be able to reach the  50 ft. statue of the Ascending Christ. With courage, determination and faith, I was able to climbed and reached the top. And indeed, it was a rewarding experience. On top, your eyes will be filled with the view of the town.

At 2:30 p.m., I attended the Mass (still with Madam Flor) celebrated by Fr. Joey Faller followed by the healing ceremony where Fr. Faller walked inside and outside the chapel with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament along with the long white cloth symbolizing the Kamay ni Hesus.

How to get to Kamay ni Hesus?

A walk along Pitogo Sea Wall

After we had our tour around the town of Pitogo, Madam Flor brought us (still with Mavic) to the house of her auntie to have some refreshment.  At the back of her auntie's house is the Pitogo Sea Wall. I didn't let the opportunity passed without going there and exploring the site.

What is a Sea Wall?

A Sea wall is a form of coastal defense constructed where the sea, and associated coastal processes, impact directly upon the landforms of the coast. The purpose of a seawall is to protect areas of human habitation, conservation and leisure activities from the action of tides and waves. As a seawall is a static feature it will conflict with the dynamic nature of the coast and impede the exchange of sediment between land and sea. (Source: Wikipedia)

A tour around Pitogo in Quezon

After we had our escapades at Soliyao beach in Pitogo, the following day, April 17, 2016, we dressed ourselves up on our way to a tour around Pitogo. Madam Flor hails from Quezon that is why she tour us around her hometown.

Pitogo is a fourth class municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 21,380 people. (source, Wikipedia). Pitogo has a few places of interests like: Conversion of Saint Paul Parish Church, Countryside Hotel, Soliyao Beach Resort, Puting, Buhangin Beach, Parola / Kastilyo, Villa Rosa Ancestral House, Taklob Beach, Pacatin (Tapat Ibayo) Beach, Pitogo Wharf.

We started the tour with the visit to Conversion of St. Paul Church located at the high area of Pitogo and has a good view of the sea. It's fascade is simple but beautiful. The fascade is a neo-classic design.

Conversion of St. Paul Church

After we visited the church, we passed by the Pitogo lighthouse. Unlike the lighthouse in Gumaca, Pitogo lighthouse is smaller.  it was built by the Americans during the American era and serves as  a reference point of fisher folks and lost ships at night.

We passed through the different streets in Pitogo, in the Municipal Hall, and some schools. Madam brought us in a view deck where we can have a glance of the town as well as the sea surrounding Pitogo.

At the View deck

After Madam Flor tour us around Pitogo, the next spot we went to was the Sea Wall.

Buying of Pasalubong

Our trip will not be that complete if we don't buy pasalubong for our loved ones.

Along the highway of Sagada, we stopped to buy pasalubong. Of course, most of the things we bought were all vegetables.

For the amount of P400.00, I was able to buy the market (just kidding!). For P400.00 I had with me 4 big plastic bags of pasalubong filled with different kinds of vegetables like cabbage, cucumber, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, bell pepper, dahon ng malunggay, and broccoli.

At Lake Danum

After we visited the Sagada Pottery, we went to Lake Danum which is one of the most visited spots in Sagada. The lake is located at Sitio Patay and is a few kilometers away from the Municipal hall of Sagada.

Lake Danum is is surrounded by the very green grasses ans trees as well which make it best for camping and picnic while some make it a jump off point when trekking to Mt. Ampacao.

After going to Lake Danum, we went back to our lodge and ate our dinner. We had a little socialization with others and afterwards we took our sleep.

The following day we prepared ourselves to go back to Manila, ready to share our experience here in Sagada.
